2011 Guitar Centers King of the Blues
Well ya’ll, I made it all the way through Guitar Center’s King of the Blues competition, and I won. I am Guitar Center’s 2011 King of the Blues!
This years competition had some great players and I have made several friends along the way, which is what it’s all about, having fun, making friends, and playing from the heart. I met several amazing folks at the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood on competition night, like Mick Mars of Motley Crüe, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Photographer Robert Knight, and 2 of the coolest people I’ve ever had the chance to meet, Joe Bonamassa and Warren Haynes (they blew my mind during the encore). Everyone was very cool and hospitable during my stay in L.A., and the folks at Guitar Center, especially Jake C., were so easy to work with.
I want to thank God for my talent, Guitar Center, Gibson, Boss, Egnater, and Ernie Ball for sponsoring such a wonderful event and the House of Blues in Hollywood for the beautiful venue and sold-out audience. Also, thanks to Mick Mars, Brad Whitford, Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Vivino, Tyler Dow Bryant, and all the other judges for donating your time for this event. And thanks to my parents, my band, and Danny, Stu, and Jack for flying out to support me, and to everyone who has always been supportive of me and my passion.
That’s it folks, it’s not an Emmy speech, I just wanted to post an update on the good fortune that has come my way and thank a few folks as well. Thanks. I’m going to work hard to make the best of this opportunity.
Here’s Guitar Center’s video of my electric and acoustic performances:

Live Video From Cutting Edge Showcase(Entire Set,All Original Material)
Cutting Edge Music Business Conference a huge success…….
Our Friday night show case at the Cutting Edge Music Business Conference in New Orleans was a success. This conference is all about networking with business professionals and other bands during the day, and going out and supporting live music from around the world at night. We played a 40 minute original set and the crowd was very responsive. We also made alot of contacts that we may be able to use one day. We created a hype about the up-coming record, and alot of music industry folks are waiting to recieve a copy. We also saw some great acts while walking the French Quarter like Amy Boudreux, Ruby Rendrag, and Aaron Williams & The Hoodoo, who where among the many great acts down in the city this weekend. I really enjoyed myself and now have some more contacts to work with. Thanks to everyone who made the Cutting Edge a smash hit, and I look forward to coming back next year. Also, we’ll be at the Grill Room August 29th, 2009
New YouTube video from the Houston Show with Mykawa Road Band on 8/7/09
Hey, Everyone:
Bill Woodland just sent me a link to YouTube that shows a video of me doing “I’m Puttin’ You Baby” by John Mayer with the Mykawa Road Band from Houston at “My Bar”. This night was really fun and I was really into it as the video depicts. I hope you all enjoy it, and let me know what you think.
My Bar, Houston, 8/7/2009
Dad and I drove over to Houston to hear Mykawa Road Band (Paul Holland on guitar, Russell McNeely on guitar, Danny Valerio on bass, and Jimmy Jones on drums) at My Bar, and I got to sit in with those guys. They’re some fine blues players, and we all had a great time. I got to play on a T-watt amplifier, designed and built by Russell McNeely.
Jack Kay and Bill Woodland came down from Austin, and Bill took some video and still shots. Here’s one of them:
Bill’s going to post the videos on youtube, and I’ll point y’all to them once I get the links.
