Spending some time with Mr. BB King

As many of you know I spent April 4th – April 27th opening up for the King of the Blues, Mr. BB King, a soulful man full of joy and wisdom. I just wanna say that this was a life changing experience and the band and I became like family with BB and his band and crew. They truly treated us with respect as we did them and shared wisdom with us that the finest education couldn’t top and for those moments I am very greatful and blessed. We we’re so well received by all of the people and spread our music to a lot of folks. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces next time we pass back through. Again, thank you to BB and crew, Brad G., Chris T., Samantha L., and my Band for making this tour happen, it couldn’t have gone better and I couldn’t be more thankful to be a Bluesman.

I am pleased to announce that we will be joining B.B. King for a select number of shows this April.What an honor for the opportunity to share the stage with Mr. King; a man of pure soul who has touched the lives of so many. Additionally, The Blues Revolution will be performing at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on May 4^th.

Hey folks,

It’s a new year and it’s shaping up to be a good one. I’m currently in my hotel room in El Paso,Illinois where I’m co-starring in the motion picture “We Be Kings” with Bianca Ryan, Sammy Blue, Rita Graham, and director Toby Hubner. We would also like to say thank you to Quint Davis, CEO of Festival Productions Inc.(JazzFest, Bayou Country Superfest,etc.) for becoming our new manager. We look forward to working with him and learning as much as we can. We will be at the IBC in Memphis representing Louisiana as one of the top unsigned Blues bands in the World Jan.30th-Feb.3rd so come support us if you can. We will be at JazzFest on May 4th,2013 opening for Los Lobos in the Blues Tent and we are extremely excited about that aswell as all of the other great career opportunities that are coming our way everyday. We have been very blessed and continue to be blessed on a daily basis. More to come soon so stay tuned

The poster is done and it looks pretty awesome,certainly different which fits my style,and we will have it up soon. We’re getting ready to do the DVD, we should have the venue locked down soon and we will need everyone to come and support if possible. We’re playing the main stage at the House of Blues in Houston on Jan. 10th,2013 opening for The Paul Ramirez Band in support of his new CD release. I will be co-starring in the film “We Be Kings” and we will be fiming in January. It is a fictional Blues movie with some interesting twists and we will start filming in January. We will also be doing a couple of benefits to help with costs for going to the IBC in Memphis in 2013,which the Voodoo Blues Krewe gave us a headstart on, but we are also trying to help get my family there to support us so be on the lookout for those and try to come support if you can. We’ve got some cool stuff coming up. The IBC in Memphis is Jan.31st-Feb.3rd and we are very excited to get the chance to return to such a wonderful event.I have an instructional DVD coming out also in January so I’ll tell everyone when that is available.We are currently revamping the website and we are also working with artist Jay Michael on a band logo and tour poster for 2013. We are getting fantastic opportunities everyday and I’ll do my best to keep everyone informed. Thanks for all the support

My hometown showed great support on September 21st,2012 at our Live After Five show,Downtown Baton Rouge. 4500+ in attendance to watch our 3 hour show and most everyone hung around for both sets. What an honor. On September 22nd we competed in the Voodoo Blues Krewe Blues Band Challenge for a chance to return to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Feb. 2013, and WE WON!!!!!!! So we are very excited to represent New Orleans,LA at the 2013 IBC. A great weekend for us. Next weekend, Kansas here we come

     I haven’t done an update in awhile so I figured I’d let ya’ll know whats going on. We have finished our record (which has Terrence Houston from George Porters band on drums) and have been selling them at our shows because we are waiting on a possible distribution deal but one way or another it will be out very soon,and if you feel ya need a copy now,just email me,I’ll get ya one. We welcome Jason Corley to the band on drums. He has been on 2 road trips already and survived both of them,so I think he’s gunna make it. We are also working on a venue to do a live DVD which I am very excited about doing. We are getting ready to go to Kansas and spread our Blues there for a few days and we are pumped about that, also may be working on a street team so if anyone wants to get involved let us know at JBL@jonathonboogielong.com and if you have a facebook and haven’t “liked” the the band page yet,please do so if ya would….. We still host the weekly jam at Bigheads,a great place for musicians to come out and network so if your in Baton Rouge and we’re not on the road,come on by.

I’m flying to Anaheim Jan.18th-22nd to do product demos and appearances for Egnater Amps and Gibson Guitars at the Winter NAMM Show 2012,which will include a performance with The Meters Experience featuring Leo Nocentelli and Bill Dickens(sponsored by Gibson)  and an 11:30 product demo at the Egnater booth all 4 days of the conference.Just an update,it’s been awhile,and I usually like to keep folks updated as great things happen….I’ll also be announcing some other cool stuff soon as things get finalized.Keep checking back.

Well ya’ll, I made it all the way through Guitar Center’s King of the Blues competition, and I won.  I am Guitar Center’s 2011 King of the Blues!

This years competition had some great players and I have made several friends along the way,which is what it’s all about, having fun, making friends, and playing from the heart.  I met several amazing folks at the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood on competition night, like Mick Mars of Motley Crüe, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Photographer Robert Knight,and 2 of the coolest people I’ve ever had the chance to meet, Joe Bonamassa and Warren Haynes (they blew my mind during the encore).  Everyone was very cool and hospitable during my stay in L.A., and the folks at Guitar Center, especially Jake C., were so easy to work with.

I want to thank God for my talent, Guitar Center, Gibson, Boss, Egnater, and Ernie Ball for sponsoring such a wonderful event and the House of Blues in Hollywood for the beautiful venue and sold-out audience.  Also, thanks to Mick Mars, Brad Whitford, Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Vivino, Tyler Dow Bryant, and all the other judges for donating your time for this event.  And thanks to my parents, my band, and Danny, Stu, and Jack for flying out to support me, and to everyone who has always been supportive of me and my passion.

That’s it folks, it’s not an Emmy speech, I just wanted to post an update on the good fortune that has come my way and thank a few folks as well.  Thanks.  I’m going to work hard to make the best of this opportunity.
